IMF: Brexit May Not Mean A British Recession ,Msn & Sky News

Britain need not suffer a recession if it leaves the European Union, the International Monetary Fund has said in its assessment of the risks around the referendum.

The Fund said that the UK economy would be comparatively weaker if it left the EU but under its "limited" scenario - in which Britain stayed in the European Economic Area, the group that includes Norway - growth would slip from 2.2% to 1.4% next year.

The drop is significantly smaller than that forecast by the Treasury. However, the Fund said that under an "adverse" scenario, in which the UK left the EU and failed to seal a Norway-style deal, having to fall back on World Trade Organisation rules, the UK would suffer a recession in 2017, with the economy shrinking by 0.8%.

The Fund's conclusions about the economic impact of Brexit have been highly anticipated for the past month, since its managing director, Christine Lagarde said that they would range "from pretty bad to very, very bad".

"Unprecedented" openness to the gospel reported in Reading as 1,200 make commitments to Christ

Fri 17 Jun 2016

By Sam Hailes Premier

Church leaders report as many as 1200 people have responded to the gospel on the streets of Reading over the past 3 weeks.

Rev Sam Owoo of Tyndale Baptist Church told Premier there is an "unprecedented" openness to the Christian message in the town.

While reluctant to use the word "revival", Neville Hollands from LifeSpring Church said there had been an "evangelistic awakening".

"It's early days but it seems God is up to something. Something is happening".
Mr Hollands also reported that church leaders in Reading have been gathering every Wednesday morning for the past 14 years to pray for the town.

He said the latest news could be put down to "Good relationships and persistent prayer".

Reports of an awakening were first circulated after Florida-based evangelist Tommie Zito began holding meetings at The Gate Church in Reading to train local Christians in evangelism nearly 3 weeks ago.

EU referendum: What will happen to Britain if there's Brexit? Here are four possible outcomes, MSN and the Washington Post

When Britons go to the polls on June 23, they will have the opportunity to jettison their country's membership in the European Union -- an outcome popularly known as Brexit.

But the ballot won't say anything about what should replace E.U. membership. That will be up to negotiators -- representing Britain on one side and the governments of the 27 other E.U. member nations on the other -- who will spend the next two years hammering out the terms of divorce if Britain votes to leave.

Pro-Brexit campaigners have said that Britain will continue to swap goods and services with E.U. nations; those imports and exports now make up about half the country's trade volume. Brexit advocates also say that Britain will be free from stultifying Brussels bureaucracy once it leaves the E.U.

But how will that actually work? And what are the chances that Britain's post-Brexit reality will match the rhetoric of those advocating for "out"? Those arguing for "in" say Brexit would be a leap in the dark, with leading economists warning of dire consequences.

Psalm 23 New International Version - UK (NIVUK) , Thought for Today

Psalm 23

A psalm of David.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
    he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
    for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
    through the darkest valley,[a]
I will fear no evil,
    for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
    for ever.

Yours by His Grace for the sake of His Gospel,  Church and Kingdom
