Philippians 4 New
American Standard Bible (NASB)
Think of Excellence
4
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentle spirit
be known to all men. The Lord is [c]near. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in
everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be
made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all
[d]comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is right,
whatever is pure, whatever is [e]lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there
is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, [f]dwell on these things. 9
The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice
these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Colossians 3 New
International Version - UK (NIVUK)
Living as those made
alive in Christ
3
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above,
where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things
above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with
Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your[a] life, appears, then you also will
appear with him in glory.
5
Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual
immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6
Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.[b] 7 You used to walk in these
ways, in the life you once lived. 8 But now you must also rid yourselves of all
such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from
your lips. 9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self
with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in
knowledge in the image of its Creator. 11 Here there is no Gentile or Jew,
circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is
all, and is in all.
12
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves
with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each
other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone.
Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love,
which binds them all together in perfect unity.
15
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you
were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among
you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through
psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your
hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name
of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Make Your Calling and
Election Sure
3
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and
godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to[c] his own glory and
excellence,[d] 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great
promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature,
having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful
desire. 5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with
virtue,[e] and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and
self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and
godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. 8 For if
these qualities[f] are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being
ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For
whoever lacks these qualities is so short-sighted that he is blind, having
forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. 10 Therefore, brothers,[g]
be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you
practise these qualities you will never fall. 11 For in this way there will be
richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ.
12
Therefore I intend always to remind you of these qualities, though you know
them and are established in the truth that you have. 13 I think it right, as
long as I am in this body,[h] to stir you up by way of reminder, 14 since I
know that the putting off of my body will be soon, as our Lord Jesus Christ
made clear to me. 15 And I will make every effort so that after my departure
you may be able at any time to recall these things.
